College Soccer???

If any of you are interested in playing soccer in college you need to answer two questions...1. Are you willing to go out of state? 2. Are you willing to play on Sunday?

There are hundreds of colleges with women's soccer programs, but there are thousands of girls who play soccer in the U.S. If you want to play college soccer, you must take the initiative. You can not expect them to come knocking dow your door. You must contact the schools and coaches you are interested in. There are a lot of recruiting sites on the internet that I encourage you to look into. A great starting point is www.steelathlete.com. There is a lot of free information on this site. I have not priced different site to inform you on the best bargain, but think you should atleast register with www.berecruited.com. This is a free site that has a very large list of colleges in the U.S. Both Shauri Lyon and Megan Clark used recruiting sites last year to obtain their athletic scholarships. If you do not want to use one of these recruiting sites, there is always the old fashion, pen and paper way. Whether you choose to use a recruiting site or choose to use pen and paper, the first step is up to you. You must contact the schools you are interested in. Figure out what you think you want to study, research the schools in our area and abroad that offer majors in your area of interest and then get to work.

You will need to compile a Player Profile (the recruiting sites have profile templates already created) that you can send to the colleges you are interested in. This profile should include any and all highlights from you high school soccer career. Games played, goals, assists, GPA, ...etc.
I recently received a flyer about a new website that will help us keep track of our stats for college coaches to check out. Here is the link: http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/VolHRBzydEWz9sXwLRnHQQ/manti-templars/girls-soccer/home.htm It is never too soon to start keeping track of you stats. Collge coaches are not allowed to contact you until your junior year, but an accurate record of your stats is necessary. If you do not have your stats from previous years, you are more than welcome to borrow the team stats books.

Another thing college coaches love to see are players with great GPA's. When ever possible coaches try to combine athletic scholarships with academic scholarships to make their scholarship money go farther.

Letters of recommendation are also a must. I am willing to write letters for any of you no matter what you are striving to achieve. Please do not hesitate to ask. Let me know what I can do to assist you.
